Dr. Paul Hozworth honored as role model by Iowa Academy of Family Physicians
The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) awarded the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award to five Iowa Family Physicians on November 2, 2012 in Des Moines. The award ceremony took place at the Clinical Education Conference Awards and Installation Banquet at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott. One of the 2012 award recipients is Paul Holzworth, MD, Urbandale Family Physicians.
Paul Holzworth, MD, was the third recipient of the evening. A colleague of Dr. Holzworth had this to say about him, "He is a caring, compassionate and wise physician. He is the total package and was the cardiologist, gastroenterologist, OB/GYN, psychiatrist and surgeon to his patients before some of these specialties were formed. He exemplifies what each of us strive to be as a family medicine physician."
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually to a family physician(s) who meet the following criteria:
• Have been a member of the Academy in good standing for at least 10 years
• Is a resident of Iowa
• Has been involved in significant community service and civic activities
• Is a role model for other family physicians, residents and/or medical students
The Lifetime Achievement Award is unique in that all awardees are nominated by another member of the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. A committee made up of physician members selects the awardees.
Congratulations, Dr. Holzworth, on this great honor, and thank you for your service to family medicine and for being mentor, role model and teacher to many.
