UnityPoint Health - Des Moines announces three new members to the 2013 Board of Directors. Board members oversee the direction of health care activities at UnityPoint Health ? Des Moines which includes, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Methodist West Hospital, Blank Children's Hospital and John Stoddard Cancer Center.
New board members include: Dr. David Boarini, neurosurgeon at The Iowa Clinic; R. Lucia Riddle, owner of Sister Strength; and Dr. Kay Hornbrook, family physician at UnityPoint Clinic at Prairie Trail in Ankeny, IA.
Prior to joining The Iowa Clinic, Dr. Boarini was a neurosurgeon at Neurosurgical Center of Iowa and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Iowa College Of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Boarini is a member of the Iowa Medical Society, Polk County Medical Society, Congress of Neurological Society and American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Before starting her own business, Ms. Riddle was Vice President of Government Relations at Principal Financial Group. Ms. Riddle also serves on the Des Moines Art Center Board, the African-American Experience Fund of the National Parks Service, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, the National Coalition and Caucus for the Black Aged, and Friends of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Dr. Hornbrook completed her family residency training through the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Hornbrook is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Iowa Academy of Family Physicians, Polk County Medical Society and Iowa Medical Society.
Burton "Toby" Joseph continues as the Board Chairman for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines; Brad Brody, Vice Chair; Rich Willis, Treasurer, and Bishop Michael Burk, Secretary.
