Iowa Health - Des Moines had three recipients recognized at the 2010 Iowa Pharmacy Association Professional Awards held June 12, 2010. Members, other professionals in the field, nominate peers for the awards. Those honored from Iowa Health - Des Moines included; Lori Schirmer, PharmD, BCPS, BCNSP; Brian Benson, PharmD; and Partners in Health Clinics.

Schirmer is a Clinical Pharmacist for Iowa Health - Des Moines, Department of Surgery Education, and she was named the 2010 recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award. This award aims to recognize pharmacists who have demonstrated significant innovations in their field that have lead to improved patient care.

Benson is the Pharmacy Operations Manager for Methodist and Blank Children's Hospital, and he received the 2010 Health-System Pharmacist of the Year Award. The Health-System Pharmacist of the Year Award is a national award program. The award is presented to health-system pharmacists who provide service to the profession of pharmacy and to the community, contribute to pharmacy programs and cooperate with the entire health care team.

Partners in Health Clinics, is an Iowa Health - Des Moines clinic group in Des Moines and was recognized this year for the Patient Care Partner Award. Designed to recognize innovation and creative practice that has served to demonstrate enhanced levels of care in the Iowa community, the award serves to recognize those who are able to bring health care providers together in order to optimize patient care.
