State Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald awarded a $1,000 College Savings Iowa account to Gavin Frantum as the most recent winner in the Baby 529 Giveaway. Proud parents are Amber and Scott Frantum of Prole.
The College Savings Iowa BABY 529 Giveaway awards this special gift each month to a single baby, selected at random, from all entries received state-wide. Seventy Iowa hospitals are currently participating in the program.
"I am pleased to have Iowa Methodist as a partner in my effort to increase awareness about the importance of saving for college," stated Fitzgerald. "I encourage families with young children like Gavin to put time on their side and start saving early. Anything they can put away today will offset what may need to be borrowed in the future."
Senator Staci Appel, David Stark, President of Blank Children's Hospital, Sue Gehlsen, Executive Director of Women's Services and Peggy Black, Manager of the Iowa Methodist Maternity Center were on hand to congratulate the family.
