The University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy has selected Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine Residency program and Kristin Horning, Pharm.D. to receive the Preceptor of the Year Award. Dr. Horning is one of the faculty members in the residency program and she teaches residents as well as pharmacy students on an on-going basis.
The physician faculty also works with these students and was another component to the selection of Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine Residency program for this award. Each year this award is given to reflect upon the accomplishments in the past year and is heavily based on student feedback.
"From the students comments it is clear you have created a terrific experience for our students at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine Residency," said Michael Kelly, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, University of Iowa.
The pharmacy program started in 1995. Dr. Horning has been on faculty since September 2006. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. Dr. Horning has been commended for providing an outstanding learning environment for pharmacy and medical students.
