We invite you to "Click" your knitting needles together to help prevent infant abuse in Iowa.
Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Blank Children's Hospital lobby.
The Click for Babies initiative will hold a Knit-In to raise awareness about Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention. Knitters from the Des Moines metro area will gather to knit purple baby hats that will be distributed at Iowa birthing hospitals during the month of November. You may use any baby hat pattern and any shade of purple yarn.
Your knitted caps will be given to babies to help educate parents and other caregivers about the Period of PURPLE Crying, a normal but frustrating period of increased crying that all infants experience in the first few weeks and months after birth.
Frustration with an infant's crying is the number one reason someone shakes and harms an infant. By knitting PURPLE baby caps, you can help us educate parents that crying is normal and that it is never okay to shake or harm an infant.
Lend your hands to raise awareness about a life-saving project - the Period of PURPLE Crying - and help keep babies safe in Iowa.
