Iowa Lutheran Radiology and Penn Avenue OB/GYN have teamed up to form Penn OB/GYN and Imaging Services. Beginning November 7, Penn OB/GYN began providing services for digital screening mammograms and ultrasound exams for outpatients. All patients will receive the same great care and image quality they are used to receiving at the hospital, but in a clinic setting.
Services offered at the clinic will now include digital screening mammograms as well as abdominal ultrasounds, breast ultrasounds, OB ultrasounds, pelvic ultrasounds, testicular ultrasounds and thyroid ultrasounds. Exams will be performed by registered mammography and ultrasound staff, who are board-certified in their respected areas and current employees of the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Radiology department. Examination results will also be read by current radiologists of Advanced Medical Imaging at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Patients may schedule their own screening mammogram appointments by providing the results from their last screening mammogram and the information of their primary or family physician to whom they would like their results sent. Screening mammograms are performed on patients who have not experienced problems such as breast pain, lumps or breast discharge. Patients with these symptoms will need a diagnostic mammogram, which needs to be ordered by a physician. Self-referrals cannot be accepted in cases such as these.
