Congratulations to Sheri Vining of Volunteer Services for receiving an UnityPoint Health - Des Moines ACE Award. The ACE (Always Committed to Excellence) Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines employees. Below is the nomination letter written for Sheri and an example of the great work she does for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines.

Sheri Vining combines wit, wisdom, charisma and a passion for helping others into her position as a volunteer coordinator at IHDM. During our recent transition to Epic, Sheri went above and beyond to ensure the volunteers at the front desk had the tools and training needed to provide exceptional customer service to our patients and families. She even helped train some staff members who work at the front desk.

Sheri worked hard to simplify the change brought about by Epic for our volunteers who greet and guide visitors to the hospitals. She individually trained each hospitality volunteer and spent time with them at the beginning of their shifts for two to three weeks until they felt confident they could help visitors with ease, without the use of a paper census. Keenly aware of the volunteers' needs, she encouraged some of them to come in for extra training. Because of her efforts, the volunteers who were intimidated by the changes are now flourishing in their role and have found a new sense of confidence in their ability to adapt to change.

Sheri is a wonderful ambassador for IHDM. Her sense of humor and caring spirit shine through every day. I am grateful to work with her and believe that she should be recognized for her efforts.
