Maternity Services delivered 5000 diapers to the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) food pantry on October 4 as part of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines's Diaper-a-Day campaign.

The diapers were donated by the community through a social media campaign where UnityPoint Health - Des Moines donated a diaper to DMARC if you "liked" their Facebook page or answered one of their daily questions. The goal of this campaign for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines was to raise awareness about the need for diaper donations in the Des Moines community. According to DMARC the Diaper-a-Day campaign raised a tremendous amount of awareness around the need for diapers and has resulted in a number of new donations.

"UnityPoint Health - Des Moines's Diaper-a-Day campaign donated almost 5000 diapers. In addition it created awareness in our community of a constant need for diapers," said Rebecca Whitlow, Food Pantry Network Director, DMARC/MovetheFood. "We have received a wonderful response from individuals (photo to the left is other recent diaper donations, a larger supply than normal) sending diaper coupons, churches having diaper drives, a family who lost their child celebrating his birthday by collecting diapers, formula, and baby food, to another charitable organization sharing their excess donations with us. We have received over 20,000 diapers and now have a diaper fund to buy diapers when we run short. The demand for diapers continues and we still need more diapers, so please keep up the support."
