Nothing quite captures the growing spirit of Des Moines like summer Saturday mornings. From The Downtown Farmers' Market to festivals to Yoga in the Park, Des Moines is a city that celebrates well-being and enjoyment. It's a place that is going and growing together towards a healthy and happy lifestyle.
A weekend activity that has been gaining popularity is Yoga in the Park. You have probably already heard about the free program from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Saturday. This program is open to anyone, from first-timers to people who have been practicing yoga for years. The local volunteer teachers who lead each class, structure the session so that all levels can enjoy the yoga experience.
Yoga in the Park is Back With a Twist!
This year, they've added a twist to this weekly get-together by also offering Zumba at the Lake for the month of June. Zumba is a popular dance-fitness program that incorporates dance and aerobic elements through fast and slow beats and resistance training. This 45-minute program starts at 8:15 a.m. and is followed immediately by Yoga in the Park at 9 a.m.
Both activities are dependent on the weather. It is advised to check out the Yoga in the Park and Zumba at the Lake schedule before heading out for any weather-related cancellations or relocations.
Come be a part of the MOVEment and give Zumba and Yoga a try! What a fun way to start the weekend and get in a great workout before heading to the Downtown Des Moines Farmers' Market! Once you're there, you can treat yourself with a refreshing smoothie and check out the nearly 300 local vendors of farmers, bakers, and artists.
