Our Team
Craig Clark, D.O. 
Dr. Craig Clark attended medical school at Des Moines University. He completed an internal medicine residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center where he received the Outstanding Senior Resident award. His cardiology fellowship was at the University of Iowa where he was appointed Chief Fellow. Following training he joined the faculty at the University of Iowa and spent a year as a VA National Quality Scholars Fellow before returning to Des Moines in 2002 with the Iowa Heart Center.
In addition to his practice Dr. Clark is President of the Iowa Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and serves on several committees of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology. He has been an invited author of an ACC/AHA Expert Consensus Document.
Dr. Clark is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Echocardiography. He holds academic appointments as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
David Hall, D.O.
David M. Hall, DO, F.A.C.O.I., F.A.C.C. received his medical training at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He interned with Flint Osteopathic Hospital, Flint, Michigan and completed his residency with Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital, Kirksville, Missouri and his fellowship with the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Hall is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and he is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American College of Cardiology.
Before joining UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology, he was in private cardiology practice in Des Moines with Heavy Medicine, Inc. He is a former Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at Des Moines General Hospital and was honored as Physician of the Year by Des Moines General Hospital and the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Hall has held a number of academic faculty positions, has published extensively in medical journals and completed many notable clinical investigations.
Tim Hart, M.D. 
Dr. Tim Hart was born and raised in Des Moines. He attended the University of Iowa as both an undergraduate and medical student. His internship, residency and cardiology fellowship were all completed at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio, Texas. He began practice in 1987 with the Iowa Heart Center.
Dr. Hart is married and has 2 sons.
Dr. Hart is on the medical staff of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and is a founding member of UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. Dr. Hart's clinical interests include interventional cardiology and cardiac and vascular imaging. He is board-certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.
Amar Nath, M.D. 
Dr. Amar Nath received his medical training at the Prince of Wales Medical College in Patna, India. His internship was at the University of South Dakota and he completed his medical residency at the University of Iowa. His cardiology fellowship was with the University of Missouri, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Nath was appointed to the faculty of the Medical College of Virginia as an interventional cardiologist, serving for three years. He moved to Des Moines in 1990 and started regular cardiology practice with the Iowa Heart Center.
Dr. Nath is on the medical staff of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and is a founding member of UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. His clinical interests include interventional cardiology and general cardiac care. He regularly performs angioplasty and stent procedures. Dr. Nath is board-certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.
Beyond his regular practice, Dr. Nath has published several articles in leading cardiology journals, and has been invited by both the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology to speak as an expert in interventional cardiology in their annual symposiums.
Prasad Palakurthy, M.D. 
Dr. Prasad Palakurthy received his medical training from Osmania Medical College in Hyderrabad, India. His internship was with Cook County Hospital, Chicago, where he also completed his medical residency. His cardiology fellowship was with Sinai Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Palakurthy began practice in 1987 with Iowa Heart Center.
Dr. Palakurthy is on the medical staff of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and is a founding member of UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. His practice specialty is pacemaker implantation and monitoring. He is board-certified in Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Echocardiography.
John Pargulski, D.O. 
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Dr. John Pargulski received his medical training at Des Moines University and interned with the Ohio State University Medical Center. He completed his medical residency with St. Louis University Medical Center and his cardiology fellowship with Ohio State University Medical Center.
Dr. Pargulski is on the medical staff of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and is a founding member of UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. His clinical interests include preventative cardiovascular care, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and treatment of peripheral vascular disease. He is board-certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.
Craig Stark, M.D.
Dr. Stark, who recently opened UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology's new office at Methodist Plaza on the Iowa Methodist campus, is board-certified in general, interventional and nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He holds a bachelor's degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, and a medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. Following medical school, Dr. Stark completed an internal medicine residency and fellowships in both cardiology and interventional cardiology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was in practice with Iowa Heart Center from 1995 to 2013, and prior to that, spent six years in private cardiology practice.
Craig Stevens, M.D.
Originally hailing from Milwaukee, WI, Dr. Craig Stevens has been a central Iowa resident for more than 20 years.
Dr. Stevens received his medical training at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He completed his cardiology fellowship with the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He began his practice with Iowa Heart Center.
Dr. Stevens is on the medical staff of Iowa Lutheran Hospital and is a founding member of UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. His specialized areas of practice include general cardiology, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, hyperlipidemia and hypertension. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Peripheral Vascular Duplex Interpretation (the latter by the American Society of Echocardiography).
Saima Zafar, M.D. 
Dr. Zafar's areas of practice include general cardiology,
echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and coronary CT angiography, and she is
board-certified in Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.
Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Zafar spent her early years in Mosul, Iraq, Monrovia, Liberia and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She returned to Pakistan at age 16 and started medical school the following year, studying at King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan.
Dr. Zafar came to the United States in 1989, completing her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Cardiology with Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. Dr. Zafar moved to Iowa in 1997, practicing with Iowa Heart Center.
She is a Board Member of the Midwest Affiliate Board of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Zafar is married and has three sons. Her personal interests include traveling, interior decorating, gardening and cooking.
Terri L. Bunting, ARNP
As nurse practitioner with UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology, Terri Bunting assists patient with ongoing treatment regimens and coordinated care management to achieve optimal cardiac health.
Terri received her diploma in nursing from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1979. She achieved her bachelor of science in nursing from Drake University in 1989 and her masters of science in nursing from Clarkson College, Omaha, Nebraska in 2001. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses' Credentialing Center.
Terri has more than 20 years' of nursing experience at UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, including Iowa Methodist's ICU-CCU, Emergency Department and Life Flight and with Cardiovascular Services. She was a clinical nurse practitioner at Iowa Heart Center prior to joining UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology.
Terri volunteers for Free Clinics of Iowa in West Des Moines. Her clinical interests include cardiology and health and wellness.
Amanda White, ARNP
Amanda is the newest member of the care team at UnityPoint Clinic | Cardiology. Amanda helps to diagnose, treat and monitor the ongoing care, and provide education for, our hospitalized cardiac patients.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand View College in Des Moines and her Master of Science in Nursing and FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) credential from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Amanda has worked in cardiology care and as a triage nurse at Mercy Hospital - Des Moines / Iowa Heart Center, and was also a ICU nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Amanda's clinical interests include preventative cardiology and the management of congestive heart failure.
Ryan Young, PA-C
Ryan helps to diagnose, prescribe medications, supervise tests and treatments, and manages the ongoing care for our hospitalized heart patients and provides follow-up care.
Ryan attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. He attended the University of South Dakota Medical School's Physician Assistant Program in Vermillion, SD, graduating in 1999. He is Board-Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Ryan's primary clinical interests include preventative cardiology, electrophysiology and management of congestive heart failure.
A native of Fremont, Nebraska, Ryan and his family currently live in Johnston, Iowa. He is married and has a daughter.
