Halloween is a time for sweets, treats and eats, but the sugary aftermath of trick-or-treating can be just as scary as ghosts and goblins.
This week's recipe
for Witch's Slaw is a fun and healthy alternative to candy and other Halloween goodies. Visit the Downtown Des Moines Farmers' Market
to collect fresh ingredients for an even more "spooktacularly" nutritious dish.
Ingredients (5 Servings)
- 1 red apple, cored and shredded
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
- 1 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 cup nonfat vanilla yogurt
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
- Chill until ready to serve
- For fun with older kids, you can garnish each serving with a plastic spider.
For a tart twist, try a Granny Smith apple instead of a red one.
