As a first-time mom, Kelly Maher found her way to Methodist Plaza OB/GYN when she discovered she was pregnant. She knew the providers would answer all of her questions about pregnancy. Through the ups and downs of her pregnancy, Kelly was thankful for the compassion and care of each provider at Methodist Plaza OB/GYN. The following is a testimonial from Kelly in her own words.
Trying to get Pregnant
My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for several months and were thrilled when we got the good news that I was expecting. We had a great start, and were so happy to see our baby's heartbeat on the ultrasound. Unfortunately, something happened at 10 weeks and I spontaneously miscarried. Dr. Paul Gisi was very compassionate and took extra time to console us and try to answer all of our questions. He must have spent an hour with us that day trying to make sense of it all, and handing me tissues.
We got pregnant for the second time a few months later, and lost that baby as well. Dr. Amy Kelly-Osdoba helped us with the loss and not only explained everything to us, but also gave us so much support and encouragement. I was so confused and sad, but Dr. Kelly-Osdoba made it a priority to find a solution. She ran every test imaginable, and referred us to a fertility clinic for other options. Six months later, I was pregnant again and the baby was strong and healthy. Once I was released to my OB, I headed straight for Dr. Kelly-Osdoba to tell her the good news. I think she was as excited as we were!
The Right OB/GYN
I chose to see a different doctor at every appointment, and didn't find a bad one in the group. Each physician brought a different personality and experience to my pregnancy. I trusted each and every one of the providers, and bonded with quite a few.
The day I went into labor, we headed to Methodist Hospital and were thrilled to learn that Dr. Shaw would be delivering our baby. Twelve hours into labor, it was determined that the baby was in a strange position and not dropping. Dr. Shaw knew how close we were to Dr. Kelly-Osdoba and called her at 3 a.m. to discuss whether we should consider a C-section. They both agreed that a C-section would be the best option and Dr. Shaw performed the surgery. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our baby, Charlie, was born at 4:57 a.m. that morning and Dr. Kelly-Osdoba was one of the first to visit us.
The doctors, nurses and staff at Methodist Plaza OB/GYN are simply the best of the best. I have referred several people to their group, and will continue to do so. They held our hands through a difficult time, and helped us achieve our greatest blessing-a family. And for that, we will be eternally grateful.
