Celebrating One Year
Just over one year ago-in October 2009-we celebrated the opening of Methodist West Hospital and the realization of a dream to expand the services of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines to West Des Moines. In the year since, physicians along with other medical providers at Methodist West have taken remarkable strides, quickly establishing the hospital as a "go-to" destination for medical care. We're dedicated to providing residents of Greater Des Moines with high-quality healthcare across the spectrum of medical specialties.

At Methodist West Hospital, we work closely with Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons (DMOS) because we want you to have the very best care. This experienced group of surgeons was the first in the state of Iowa to perform a total knee replacement. The Orthopaedic Center of Excellence at Methodist West and Iowa Methodist perform more orthopaedic surgeries in Iowa than any other hospital system.
- Offering experienced staff and 24/7 on-staff neonatal support in partnership with Blank Children's Hospital.
- The first and only hospital in central Iowa to employ Patient Care Facilitators.
- The surgery department contains 14 private pre-operative rooms, six leading edge operating rooms, a cardiovascular catheterization lab, and an endoscopy suite.
