Pain Management
People often have patients for short-term or acute pain from an injury or a recent surgery. Some people suffer from intractable chronic pain, which does not always have an easily identifiable cause.
The Pain Management Clinic provides referred patients with relief from most forms of chronic intractable pain. Our physicians, advanced nurse practitioner and the clinic staff will teach patients how to manage pain to allow them to return to a normal, productive life.
Our Clinic also provides office-based treatment for opioid addiction (which can occur from a variety of natural and synthetic drugs) using a cost-effective, safe, convenient and comprehensive approach using medical supervision, prescribed medications and addiction counseling.
The Pain Management Clinic accepts physician referrals, office consultations and hospital inpatient consultations.
Andrzej Szczepanek, M.D.
 Dr. Szczepanek received his medical training at the Medical Academy of Lublin in Poland and interned with Holy Cross Cancer Center in Kielce, Poland and performed his medical internship and residency and fellowship in pain management at J.H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
Dr. Szczepanek is board-certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is also board certified in Pain Medicine by both the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Karen A. Mellody, ARNP
 Karen Mellody received her medical education from the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner with clinical interests in pain management and depression.
Karen Mellody is a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.

Referrals
If your insurance plan requires you to have a primary care physician, please review with your physician how you may use us. Such plans require prior authorization.
