Two Pink Lines

Two pink lines. The lines are so simple, but they come with great responsibility. Seeing those two pink lines can be scary, exciting, horrifying or down right nerve-racking. For my husband, Tyler, and me, we couldn't be more thrilled!
We had been waiting for those two pink lines for five months. At the time, it seemed like those five months were more like five years, but looking back on it, we are very fortunate we got pregnant so fast. We have many friends and family members who have been trying for years to get pregnant. They tried different medicine, different styles, in vitro, etc. just to see one pink line over and over again. It is heartbreaking when you want it so bad, and my heart goes out to all of you who are still trying. Keep your heads up!
We found out we were pregnant at four weeks. Honestly, I knew I was pregnant before I took the test because I just felt differently. My scent of smell increased, my body changed in ways I have never seen it before and I was tired all the time. Even though my body was weird and the thought of a human being growing in me scared the daylights out of me, I was happy, and I couldn't wait to share the news with the ones we love the most! Tyler and I went back to our hometowns the day after we found out to tell our parents. Tears were shed, feet were jumping up and down, hugs were shared and new titles of Grandma and Grandpa were exchanged. They were so happy for us! We are truly blessed with an amazingly supportive family!
After we told our parents, it was so hard to not tell other friends and family members! Tyler and I made a decision to keep our news on the "down low" until we were 12 weeks pregnant. So, we told our immediate family at four weeks, our Life Group from church at eight weeks, the rest of our family members at 10-11 weeks and we told the world at 12 weeks. Telling everybody was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders, and we didn't have to go around with this big secret anymore! This decision was personal and may not be for everybody. We know a lot of people who told their news right away, and some people waited until they started to show. The decision is for whatever fits your life best!
We wanted to tell everyone face to face but with distance in the way, it made it difficult. So we got creative with our chocolate lab, Buddy. Here is the video we shared with family and the picture we shared with friends.
So, if you have seen those two pink lines, congratulations! Enjoy this nine month journey! Make it fun, take notes on what you are feeling, and get lots of sleep! You are going to need it!
