Medical Missions

Our commitment to improving the health of our communities extends beyond patient care to conducting business for the benefit of our environment by reducing, reusing and recycling within our organization. In addition to a varitey of green initiatives, one way our organization supports sustainable practices is by recycling outdated medical supplies and equipment through our relationship with Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment).

Project C.U.R.E. was founded in 1987 and helps meet the critical need for medical supplies and equipment around the world by collecting items that otherwise would be unnecessarily discarded and distributing them to various missions and charities. In many underserved regions, these supplies are desperately needed to assist in providing basic healthcare. Last year, UnityPoint Health - Des Moines was able to support Project C.U.R.E by contributing to the more than $6 million worth of medical supplies that were sent following the earthquake in Haiti.

UnityPoint Health - Des Moines and our providers also contribute to other organizations through Solidarity Bridge and Outreach Africa. We look forward to expanding the opportunities to help others around the world.
