Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Teen Volunteers at Iowa Lutheran Hospital

If you are entering 8th grade through eleventh grade (minimum age is 14) and would would like to learn about the healthcare field, build friendships, develop leadership skills and have fun while donating your time, the Volunteen Program at Iowa Lutheran Hospital is for you! Volunteens help one night a week from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. They visit with patients, assemble chart packets, design monthly calendars and much more! Volunteens are required to have this year's annual flu shot upon entry into the program.

 

Volunteen Responsibilities Include:

                    Visiting Patients

                    Delivering Flowers                            

                    Restocking Supplies

                    Labeling Surgery Charts    

                    Picking Up Mail & Delivery Cards    

                    Assembling Out-Patient Surgery Bags

Teen Volunteers at Iowa Methodist and Blank Children's

If you are entering 8th grade through eleventh grade (minimum age is 14), are willing to give a minimum of six months of your time and would like to learn about the healthcare field, build friendships, develop leadership skills and have fun while donating your time, the Volunteen Program at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Blank Children's Hospital is for you!  Come join our team of student volunteers. Students are required to have this year's annual flu shot upon entry into the program.

Currently accepting applications for the following areas:

 

    Blank Children's placements are limited at this time.

    Gift shop-Assist with sales, flower deliveries, customer service.

    Piano-Share your talent by playing a grand piano to providing background music in the main lobby area.

    Powell 4-Share a musical talent or help play a game or something with the patients on this rehabilitation inpatient

                      unit.  Flexible scheduling.

    Student Ambassador-Greet visitors, look up patient room numbers and escort visitors throughout the hospital.
