Methodist West Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers at Methodist West make a difference for our patients, families and staff at the hospitals. We have opportunities for men and women. Volunteers are needed in non-patient areas such as the gift shop, family waiting rooms, clerical support, and more. A typical volunteer assignment is once a week for 2-4 hours. We ask our volunteers to make a six-month commitment.

Steps to becoming a volunteer:

Have a desire to help and become a part of our healthcare team.
Complete a volunteer application (including contact information for 3 personal references).
Complete a simple health screening at no cost to you. A seasonal flu vaccine is required.
Pass a criminal background and dependent adult/child abuse registry check.
Attend a placement interview/orientation session.
Complete necessary training.

Volunteer Opportunity Highlight

Gift Shop

Would you enjoy interacting with the public in a fun, retail environment? Do you have great customer-service skills? We are looking for volunteers to help in our Gift Shop. Volunteers assist customers, ring up sales and help keep the shop organized. We currently have 3-hour shifts open on Wednesday and Friday. All volunteers work with the sales associate. Volunteer Ambassador

The Ambassadors are located in the main lobby at the information desk. The Ambassadors must enjoy people, have good communication skills, good hearing and sense of direction. They must be willing to greet all visitors and patients, escort patients and visitors to locations throughout the hospital, look up information on the computer and help direct families. Volunteers must be able to walk to various locations thoughout the hospital and push patients in wheelchairs. We currently have weekly positions open.
