When to Use Urgent Care

Not every illness or injury requires a trip to the emergency department. For minor illness or injury, UnityPoint Clinic has six urgent care clinics in the greater Des Moines area.

Urgent Care Clinics provide convenient and cost-effective service for treating minor medical problems or injuries that require a health care provider's attention but are not life-threatening. Urgent Care Clinics are available after hours, weekends and holidays and can provide medical treatment for minor illness and injuries such as:

Allergies
Burns
Colds
Coughs
Cuts
Earaches
Fevers
Flu
Fractures
Infections
Sore throats
Sprains

Urgent Care Clinics do not have ready access to extended patient observation and specialty consultation. Patients who present with life threatening situations are immediately transferred to an emergency department or referred to the 911 EMS system.
