Wound Healing
The Wound Healing Center provides specialized out-patient treatment for wounds that have not healed for six weeks or longer.
Our wound healing team consists of doctors and nurses committed to providing you with comprehensive care. We truly understand the discomfort and inconvenience your wounds cause you every day. Because we want to help you feel better, you have our commitment to provide the treatment you need in a professional and caring manner.
Who should use the Wound Healing Center?
- Persons with non-healing wounds of more than six weeks' duration

Persons with wounds that recur after healing

Persons with diabetic foot and ankle wounds

Persons with venous stasis ulcers
-
Persons with ischemic ulcers

Persons with stage II or higher pressure ulcers

Persons with wounds where an unusual cause is suspected (e.g. sickle cell, rheumatoid arthritis, herpes, etc.)
What to Expect
- A wound care nurse will gather detailed information about the history of your wound and your current health status.

An evaluation of your wound will be completed. As a result of the evaluation, we may ask you to have some additional testing and laboratory work.

You will be taught the cause of your wound, how to care for your wound, and how to recognize early warning signs of complications.

The first visit usually lasts two to three hours. Following visits should only take about an hour.
What to Bring
- Any medication you are taking and their original containers (prescription and over the counter).

The family member or friend who helps you with your wound. He or she will learn more about how to care for your wound.

Loose fitting clothes that allow room for larger dressings.

Your insurance card or other insurance information requested by the Center.
By keeping your appointments, arriving on time and following your treatment program, you will speed your recovery and promote successful healing.
